Bismarck Public School District to Move Portables to Schools

The growing Bismarck Public School district needs more temporary space.

The school board approved moving five portables from the Hughes Educational Center to three schools.

The portables and Hughes were used to house Legacy students while the new school was being built.

One will go to Sunrise Elementary, two to Highland Acres and two will be moved to Century High School. It will cost the district $50,000 to relocate the modular classrooms.

"They'll have to be used at all three of those places until we can figure out additional space in those really rapidly growing areas. So a minimum of a year and who knows beyond that," said Uselman.

The district will move the portables this summer.
