Back-to-Back State Titles for Century Boys Swimming and Diving

By  |

Century is the defending boys state champion in swimming and diving, but it was Minot who won the West Region this year.

They were both competing for the 2015 state title today.

Century started out strong in the state meet. In the 200 medley relay, Quentin Hogue, Kyler Alme, Sam Artz and Travis Vatnsdal just beat West Fargo with a time of 1:39.47.

In the 200 IM, state record holder Loren Sether of Century was once again the favorite to win. Sether set a new state record yesterday in the prelims, breaking his own record from last year. He wins again with a time of 1:53.81. Gerald Brown of Minot came in second.

In the 50 free, it was a battle of the west for the top three spots. Justin Kovich from Minot, Logan Stucki from Century, and James Gordon from Williston were the top seeds. Minot's Kovich would get the win there.

The top diver from the west was Cole Armagost for the Magi. He finished third.
