DES LACS, N.D. - Two Lakers signed to join college programs Friday afternoon in Des Lacs.

Jameson Lesmann is headed to Valley City State to continue his career as a wide receiver. He's excited to join a winning culture at the next level with the Vikings.

"It was definitely a long process, but I made a decision in a short amount of time because I was ready to play college football. They presented me with a scholarship, and I was ready to get to work. I'm going to be ready to work next fall," Lesmann said.

Lakers Pitcher Erica Hermanson is set to join a Minot State program that will give her an opportunity to pitch right away in front of her fans.

"I'm already familiar with the campus, [and] I know some of the softball players such as Jaycie Rostad from Minot High. I've been to their camps, and I also wanted to stay close to home and be close to family," Hermanson said.

Hermanson added that she's thankful for the school administration to allow seventh and eighth graders to start their varsity careers early.
