MANDAN, N.D. - The Bears Tail are a basketball family, and on Monday, they held their first Celebrity Golf Tournament.
Ed Jones is a name that's not very recognizable, until you insert his nickname, "Too Tall." Then, sports fans know you're talking about the former standout defensive lineman for the Dallas Cowboys.
"Too Tall" was the guest of honor at Prairie West in Mandan Monday.
The Bears Tails are using events like this to help with the cost associated with youth basketball.
"I welcomed the opportunity with open arms and the people here have been very nice and this is the first one and this is something they will build on and I just hope the public here will come out and support them because these kids are so precious and they are working so hard and it takes everybody rallying around them to just make it easier for them to succeed," said "Too Tall" Jones.
This is not the first time Jones has been in North Dakota but it is the first time he's been in the state since his playing days with Dallas.
"I was here in 1978 after we lost the Super Bowl to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it's been so long I barely remember it much but what I do remember back then people we very nice even though here you have a lot of fans that support a lot of different teams around the league but the were nice to me and I never forgot that," said Jones.
