Trinity Titans at state volleyball

DICKINSON, N.D. - Dickinson Trinity will be representing Region 7 at the State Volleyball Tournament. The Titans beat Heart River to qualify for a trip to the Fargodome.

The most important part of practice this week has had nothing to do with physically playing the game.

"Skill wise I think we're doing very well. It's more mental preparation knowing the stage that we're going to be playing on and just to be able to handle that pressure so right now we've been doing some situational things that we might be seeing at state. So we're trying to prepare that way," said Brenna Messer, Trinity head coach.

Trinity only dropped one set in their region wins over the Cougars, New England and Bowman County.

"We're excited! A team from Trinity hasn't gone to state in a really long time, so it's a lot of pressure, but it's also really exciting to know that we get to play in they huge tournament, in the huge Fargodome. So it's exciting but it's also nerve racking," said Masy Kuntz, Trinity junior.

Trinity will play Our Redeemer's in the opening round on Thursday. The Knights are a team they're familiar with.

"I think if we come out hitting aggressive that's our biggest thing. Our offense last time we played them was slower and more conservative, but if we come out swinging like we can we have a really strong front row. If we show them that we'll be good to go," said Sarah Mayer, Trinity senior.

The Titans are the 5 seed while Our Redeemer's is number 4. Their quarterfinal match up is schedule to begin November 16 at 6 p.m. MST.
