In Class-AA Football, St.Mary's is the team on top of the North Dakota A.P. Sportscasters & Sportswriters Association voting this week.

The Saints defense has two shutouts in their first 3-games while the offense has scored 41, 35 and 55-points.

The head coach says their opponent's are about to get more difficult.

"What's been good about the first couple weeks is our schedule has been in our favor. It turns out some of the teams we played are struggling a little bit but what I think we've learned is that we've gotten better every week. We've had a great attitude. We've had some injuries and our kids have handled that adversity real well," said St. Mary's head coach Dan Smrekar.

The Saints match-up on Friday is against a rated team. Number-1 ranked St. Mary's hits the road to Devils Lake this week. The Firebirds are the only team moving up in the ranking. They're number-4 after switching with Jamestown.

The top 3-teams are all 3-&-0.

Second Ranked Fargo Shanley is getting four 1st-place votes with the rest going to the Saints. Central Cass is ranked third.
