Cody Perkins accomplished a lot throughout his career with the Mott-Regent Wildfire.
The two-year captain surpassed 1,000 career points on his way to being named the Region Seven Senior Athlete of the Year. And in the spring and summer, Perkins plays for the North Dakota Attack. His Attack teammates say his skill set on the hardwood is one of a kind.
"He's just a good all-around player; he can do it all. He can get it down low, he can score people, he's super athletic, he can get up finish by the rim with anybody, and it’s just fun to play with him really athletic guy,” said Lions All-Star Seth Hetzel.
One of the unique parts of Perkins' game is his versatility. He can play all five positions on the floor.
"I mean you can find him anywhere. He can be like the one, he can be the two, he can be the three, and, I mean, he can probably be the four. He's a good player because he can do a lot of good things for a lot of good teams. Cody, he's a really funny player, he's super athletic, you know, he's kind of a goofy guy, he's fun to be around, and, you know, small town boy. He's got a little bit of that country in him, so that's kind of fun, but, no, he's a really solid player. He can shoot the ball really well, he can attack very well, he has crazy athleticism, he can go up and dunk the ball whenever he wants, even if he's not even loose, so he's just a fun player to play with I would say,” said Lions All-Star Ben Bohl.
Perkins' high school career is now officially over.
"Its bitter sweet for sure. High school has been a lot of fun but I'm ready for that next chapter," said Perkins.
After weighing all his options, Perkins has decided the next phase of his career will be at Bismarck State College.
"The biggest factor for sure was Buster. Coach Gillis, he sold me for sure when I went on my first visit. I knew that's where I wanted to be. He just told me that he was looking for good team players and that's what I'm about. so that sold me right there," Perkins said.
Perkins will attend classes at BSC in the fall.
