KNOXVILLE, Iowa - LT is in Knoxville, Iowa for the Knoxville Nationals. Wednesday he caught up with Donny Schatz, who is getting recognized for the 10th time in the Avenue of Champions.
Well it's the Daytona 500, the World Series, the Super Bowl of Sprint Cat Racing.
It's the Knoxville Nationals here in Knoxville, IA. One of the things I like about this place is they call it the Avenue of Champions.
Underneath the grandstands here, they honor the previous 57 champions of this event on the pillars, with their likeness. And this afternoon, North Dakota's Donny Schatz got to unveil his championship for the 10th time.
"To think of all that effort that went into it all the time, all the things, the good and the bad, to be able to get to this point today, is really incredible. It's really rewarding. It really teaches you, you can't dream too big, because I don't think you can dream big enough to be a 10 time Knoxville Nationals champion, so, enjoy it, I feel like a fortunate person, and I'm going to do my best to try to keep building on that," said Schatz.
The 58th Knoxville Nationals starts in less than an hour, we'll hear more from Schatz tomorrow, but we'll have to wait until Saturday to find out in Donny can win his 11th championship in the last 13 years.
