BISMARCK, N.D. - The University of Mary cross country season has been going on for a couple of months now, but the Marauders will be put to the test this weekend. The Roy Griak Invitational offers one of the more challenging courses in the region.

Leading up to this weekend, both teams have spent time working out and getting to know one-another. After Saturday, Dennis Newell says he’ll be able to see what’s working, and what is not.
"Griak is this weekend, but it's kind of our starting point. Unlike a lot of other sports, you know we've been going for six weeks, but like I said, it's our starting point. So we've just been putting the work in right now and just, Griak is our first test. And we're going to go up against some schools in the NSIC, from the Central Region, even nationally speaking to just see where we are, and what kind of adjustments that we need to make," said Newell.
Kate Fox, junior at the University of Mary, said, "So, Griak is definitely a very very challenging course. It is, you are either going up a hill or down a hill, so it is very gruesome. It is not something to be taken lightly."
The Griak is Saturday in Minneapolis. The Marauders women are ranked 4th in the country this week.
