They may look alike but they are certainly not the same. In this week's Pro's Pointer, Johnnie Candle explains that not all life jackets are created equal.
Johnnie Candle, MWC World Walleye Champion: "At first appearance these two life jackets look very similar but there is one detail that separates them distinctly. It's this clear plastic window that allows us to know that the life preserver is armed and ready to be used at a moments notice.
This life preserver counts as a legal flotation device whether you wear it or not as long as it's stored above deck and readily accessible.
This life preserver without a clear plastic window has not way of being checked to know if it's ready to use for that reason it must be worn at all times in order to count as a legal life saving device.
Now, I'm not certain of all of the fine print details of these laws so it might be smart to check with your local law enforcement agencies because it would really stink for a small detail like this to create a really awkward situation the next day you're out having fun on the lake. I'm Johnnie Candle and that's this week's Pro's Pointer."
Next week, Johnnie dives into the topic of superlines and how small details makes them very different.
