Summer must be closing in on us because it's time for Pro's Pointers to get started.
If you like to fish on the Missouri River, then there's a good chance you have already done so and your boat is good to go.
For many people, the boating and fishing season is about to start and Johnnie Candle has some items to remember during your first time out, as we start Johnnie's 23rd year on KFYR-TV, KMOT, KQCD and KUMV.
Johnnie Candle, MWC World Walleye Champion & ND Fishing Hall of Famer:
"Here's a few things to remember when you launch your boat for the first time this season. You want to make sure it's fully loaded before you get to the boat ramp. Make sure your safety equipment is in there, life jackets & fire extinguisher all of those kinds of items. Then I want to make sure all of my accessories work. Make sure your depthfinder is going to fire up. Make sure your electric trolling motor is going to work. I have some shallow water anchors on this boat. make sure they are functioning properly. You want to make sure your battery is fully charged and your connections are good. Even crank that engine a few times in the driveway just to make sure it turns over. When you get near the ramp take the straps off don't forget the drain plug. Don't ask me how I know but you don't want to be "that guy". I'm Johnnie Candle and that's this weeks Pro's Pointer."
Next week, Johnnie has another early season reminder and it has to do with the sun.
