FARGO, N.D. - The Bison football season isn’t over just yet. Quarterfinals for the FCS playoffs are this weekend, and as it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that North Dakota State has home field advantage against Colgate.
Now Colgate is a really good team from the Patriot League. They beat James Madison last weekend, and something that stands out about their offense is how good they are.
Head Coach of the Bison, Chris Klieman said, "You have to stop the run and that's going to be Holland and that's going to be the quarterback, because the quarterback does such a great job, he's similar to Easton as far as making the right decisions on the read-zone game and on some of their mid-line option run, he does a great job at that. So we have to be sound in our fits, and then, if you're not sound in your fits, we're going to have gash plays on us, but that also creates some one-on-one opportunities outside with DB's and wide receivers and we have to be really good in coverage as well."
And speaking of quarterbacks, NDSU’s Easton Stick is a bit more worried about Colgate’s defense and how well they’ve performed, not only in the game against JMU, but the whole season.
"They force an unbelievable amount of turnovers and a really opportunistic defense. And last week, taking the ball away from them, a really good JMU team five times, that's unbelievable, and so, you just see it throughout the year though, forcing fumbles and when the balls in the air, they're getting hands on it and it's going the other way so it's just a really experienced, talented group," said Stick.
The Bison have an early game this Saturday against the Raiders, kick-off is at 11:00 CT over on ESPN, and you can catch the Farmers Union Insurance Bison Football Pre-Game Show at 10:00 CT right here on the KFYR-KVLY Bison Football Television Network.
