BISMARCK, N.D. - After college, it’s time to move onto the next chapter in your life. That’s what Alexis Zeis is doing, following one of the best running careers in the history of the University of Mary.
Zeisi is back in Bismarck for the holidays and received her award for College Female Athlete of the Year from the Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
"It's pretty awesome to win the award for the second time. It just kind of shows all the hard work that I put into running and when I was representing the University of Mary and everything. And now, following all the success I had at U-Mary, I am now running in Boulder, CO, living there, just running, and working. I work at the rec center down there, but I get to do running, and running is my main job," said Zeis.
We’ll hear about who she’s running with and against Friday.
Even without Zeis, the Marauders cross country team finished second in the country this past fall. Zeis said it was exciting to see her former teammates continue UMary’s success.
"I was following them every time they had a race to ask how practice was going throughout the week. I would text Jaiden, I would FaceTime Kate Fox sometimes, talk to her about everything. I was so excited to see Emily Roberts come in and take a huge step. She really inspired me at the end of the season there, coming away with the third place finish and then the team coming away with another second place team trophy," said Zeis.
