Minot Minotauros players receive scholarships for community service

MINOT, N.D. - The Minot Minotauros Boosters and Minot Masonic Lodge are doing their part to reward the team's players who give back to the community with scholarships.

Defenseman Lincoln Erne and forward David Raisanen both won $1,500 scholarships. One award came from the boosters, with the other coming from the Masonic Lodge.

The players were judged on their service work, their leadership qualities, and an essay on what it means to be a Minotauros player.

“Someone that's just had a lot of community involvement, kind of went above and beyond the normal standard, had a good leadership potential when it came to not only with our teammates but with the community,” said Benjamin Lingenfelter, Booster/Masonic Lodge member on what they were looking for in the recipients.

Each athlete will be able to put the money to a school of their choice.
