BISMARCK, N.D. - The second half of the gymnastics season starts tonight with the Julie Ziegler Memorial in Bismarck. The three capital city public schools are hosting this meet at the Gymnastics Academy.
Legacy’s head gymnastics coach, Linda Grina said: "That started in 1995. She was a person who was very instrumental in getting this gym built and every year we have a meet in her honor."
Grina said it’s important that her athletes understand the impact Ziegler had in local gymnastics.
"This week I did share the importance of that meet with them because I've been around since then," said Grina.
Grina said Ziegler died of pancreatic cancer, and the athletes are going to wear some purple tonight, to honor Julie.
