BISMARCK, N.D. - It's homecoming for the University of Mary this week and the Marauders football team is hosting MN-Crookston on Saturday.
U-Mary has something in common with the Eagles, they're both looking for their first win of the year. Otherwise, it seems like a match-up of contrasts.
U-Mary Head Coach Josh Kotelnicki said: "Our strength is running the football. Their weakness seems to be defending the run. Their strength seems to be throwing the ball on offense. Defensively we harp every week on to continue to improve against the run so then special teams both teams have things they do well on special teams. They're actually leading the conference on kickoff coverage."
Kotelnicki says they're getting more consistent on offense. He said Garrett Weissinger will start at quarterback for the 3rd-straight game. It's the first time the coach can make that claim in 3-years.
"Our offense is starting to run the ball better and better each week. It's mainly contributing it to our quarterback and the pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit," said Jared Taylor, U-Mary offensive lineman,
The homecoming kickoff at the MDU Resources Community Bowl on Saturday is at 1:00 p.m. CST.
