MSU football player relives miracle touchdown

MINOT, N.D. - Minot State Freshman Cory Carignan started his college football career off with a bang. He returned a kickoff 104 yards for a touchdown after initially fumbling the ball into the end-zone. ESPN named the incredible turnaround the Number 1 play Thursday night on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays. While Carignan thought about scoring a touchdown in his first game for the Beavers, he didn't expect it to come like this.

"I dropped it, and my heart dropped. I was scared. I was nervous. I didn't want that to be [what] I was known for right away. [I] picked up the ball, turned around, made one guy miss, and was able to bounce out [and] hit the sideline I saw I had a good little convoy of blockers, so after I hit a certain point, I kind of knew that it was [going to] go all the way," Carignan said.

He added that the ESPN notoriety is "surreal," but he still expects to hear it from Head Coach Mike Aldrich about the fumble in the film room.
