Swimming is in the Capital City while the State-B girls basketball team's will gather in Grand Forks.

Kidder County is one of those eight teams. The Wolves are the champions of Region 3. They beat LaMoure-L-M to advance to the tourney.

Kidder County is the number-1 seed and Dan Welder's team is also undefeated.

Kidder County Head Coach Dan Welder said: "It was quite a game a lot of runs here and there we went on one right away they came back in the second half. LaMoure is a great team, they really are. They got great guard play; we tried to you know play defense on them as much as we can. We tried to get them a little rattled and stuff, and I thought we did a good job of it. We hit some shots down the stretch, so I'm so proud of these girls; they deserve it."

The game got a little tight in the 2nd-half, but the Wolves were able to absorb the run and win the region.

"Oh my goodness, its crazy. I'm so excited. I'm so proud of my team, and I'm just so glad we were able to stick it out, work hard those last minutes, and I'm just so excited. I never really doubted. I knew we had to keep working hard. I'm just proud of my team, and I knew we could trust each other to keep working hard even though we got down a little bit and they were on a run. We just knew we had to stop them and keep playing our game," said Brittany Rath, Kidder County Wolves

Kidder County will play the third game of the opening round in Grand Forks on Feb. 28 against Rugby.

Langdon-E-M opens the tournament against Kindred. Thompson and Shiloh Christian also play in the afternoon while the final game of the opening round is Trenton against Hettinger-Scranton.
