Fit Tips: rock climbing

MINOT, N.D. - Rock climbing is great way to stay in shape, but it's not always possible with the weather turns cold.

In this week's Fit Tips, the Minot YMCA keeps climbers fit year round with the rock wall.

Dave Dunsmoor has been supervising the rock wall for six years and says their indoor wall is great for a full body workout that changes every time you go.
It's available year round and all you need to do is climb.

“First off it's going to work your forearms here and your fingers and your tendons that you don't usually work when you're doing weights. You can come in here and use it as it is, but we try to gear a training to people who are actually going to go out on rock in South Dakota or Montana. I was very successful in climbing a couple of mountains because of my experience here that I would not have been able to do otherwise. I was sixty when I started this and I can still do it. It's a workout going up and down several times,” Dunsmoor said.
