MINOT, N.D. - Ernest Elite Basketball Academy in Minot has been on a mission to make good, young basketball players great. In this week's Fit Tip, Jack Springgate heads to their gym to see if they could make his fitness great.
I'm Jack Springgate at the Ernest Elite practice courts where I'm going to elevate my fitness above the rim in your weekly Fit Tip.
I'm with trainer and founder of the Ernest Elite Basketball Academy, Ernest Bell. He's played basketball all over the world but now he keeps it local in Minot.
I'm here to get a workout so tell me how basketball can be a fun way to stay fit?
“Toss me the ball first. I feel more comfortable with the ball. For one, it's a cardio game. You go up and down the court, and you're running all the time so you're always going to be in some form of shape. Academy is all about more mental toughness. You know the game is 90-percent mental and 10-percent physical. Your mind has to be sharp and that’s what basketball does to you. It just brings out so much mental toughness in your game if you're mentally strong, and with academy, I'll make you mentally strong,” Bell said.
I think I still have some work to do, but it's easy for me to want to step back onto the court after all that fun. Thanks again Ernest and for your weekly Fit Tip, I'm Jack Springgate.
