FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - UPDATE: Sources confirm to Valley News Live that North Dakota State is set to name Matt Entz the next head football coach of the Bison

ORIGINAL STORY: Peter Thamel with Yahoo Sports is reporting North Dakota State is set to name Matt Entz the next head football coach of the Bison.

Entz came to Fargo in 2014 to be Chris Klieman’s defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Under his leadership, the Bison defense has led the Missouri Valley Football Conference in scoring defense and ranked in the FCS top five all three years, allowing an average of 16 points or less as the Bison won their fourth and fifth straight NCAA national championships and extended their streak of conference titles to six in a row.

Before joining the NDSU staff, Entz was associate head coach, co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach at Western Illinois, along with three years at Northern Iowa.

Entz replaces Klieman, who was hired Monday, Dec. 10 as the 35th head coach at Kansas State.
