DICKINSON, N.D. - The Dickinson Midgets are looking to turn around their football team after they went 1-8 a season ago.
"Exciting this time of the year is always exciting especially with all the hard work these guys put in the off season and we are just excited to get going on Friday night," said Head Coach John Tuchscherer.
For the Midgets, they will have a new starting quarterback in Landon Aman, who's job is to replace former All State QB Morgan Wardner.
"You know he seems to have a good grasp of what we want to do offensively and he has a really good composer to himself and getting guys where he needs to go so like I said so far so good and he is going to continue to improve through out the year," said Tuchscherer.
"Yeah, we are connecting and as long as we keep moving the ball down the field that is all we need," said senior wide receiver Alex Praus.
The Midgets will also return four offensive line man from a season ago.
"You know we have worked together through the last two years. Most us have a good bond and we have a lot of good guys so its nice that we have that chemistry off each other and feel what each other is going to do it is nice," said senior offensive lineman Evan Showalter.
Dickinson's Defense will also have a good mix of experience and youthful energy in 2019.
"We are looking really good we are looking strong in the linebacker positions and our safetys are defiantly looking good too as well as our line. We are kinda inexperienced in the defensive backfield but I think we can get the job done," said Praus.
"You know defensively another strength of ours is up front because we return a lot of guys and I think we have a lot of depth at that position. I really like what our linebackers have done this fall and at the DB positions. I feel pretty good about all three phases of our defense right now," said Tuchscherer.
And for the Midgets they are hoping to return to a place where they haven't been in a couple of seasons.
"Defiantly make the playoffs because that should be our goal every year and than we will go from there," said Praus.
"We want to go win some games we haven't won many in the past years and I think that is what we are looking forward to," said showalter.
Dickinson will open up their 2019 season against Fargo South Friday night.
