Devan Douglas back in Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. - The NBA season kicks off tonight, and the college basketball season is not far away.

For former U-Mary stand-out, Devan Douglas, the basketball season does not end because he’s a member of the Harlem Globetrotters. Our Kaleigh Emery caught up with Devan to talk about being back in Bismarck.

It's been a heck of a journey for Devan Douglas; winning the NCAA dunk contest, graduating from U-Mary, signed with the Harlem Globetrotters and going into your third season with the Globetrotters.

Douglas said: "It's been going by fast, so many things happening within these last three years, a lot of amazing things, and I can't be more thankful, you know. So, it's probably going to continue to blur as time goes, but I'm really happy with what's going on in life right now."

And things definitely seem to be working out for you, back in Bismarck, I know you kind of call it your second home, you're back here for Marauders Madness tomorrow. Talk about the excitement of just being back.

"Well, it's always good to be back, I miss Bismarck so much, you know, Bismarck it feels like home to me, you know. Everybody shows me love. I have kids that message me through social media on how to get better, how to jump higher and stuff like that. So, it's real good to respond to them, and hopefully they have a chance to see me here tomorrow for the Marauder Madness," said Douglas

And, this is not his only time in Bismarck, you'll be with the Globetrotters Nov. 2, 7:00 p.m. over at the Events Center, everyone always loves going and watching the Globetrotters perform, and it especially when they get to see you, is there a special sort of excitement for you when you get to come back and perform with them here?

"Always, coming back here is always like coming back home to Iowa, it's pretty much got the same support, it's always good to come back and play in front of people I roomed with in college, and coaches, and like, people that support me, so I'm always happy to come back," said Douglas.

And we're always excited to see you, Devan thanks so much, we'll see you tomorrow for Marauders Madness, and also in November when you join the Globetrotters.

Kaleigh will be talking with Head Coach Joe Kittell Wednesday live at the Marauders Madness event. It will include free food for kids and college students, also a scrimmage, 3-point shooting contest and dunk contest, plus Devan will be at the MAC tomorrow as well.
