BISMARCK, N.D. - Cottonwood Park in South Bismarck is expanding.
Bismarck Parks and Recreation District says it will be creating four new adult softball diamonds and four fast pitch softball fields.
The district needs more fields because adult and youth softball leagues are expanding.
"We looked at the other communities throughout North Dakota, and Bismarck has the highest numbers in adult men's slow pitch softball and adult women slow pitch softball so the numbers are very strong," said Randy Bina, Bismarck Parks And Recreation District.
The project will cost a little over $4 million and will also include expanded trails and playgrounds. Softball groups in the area will be fundraising for the expansion.
