BISMARCK, N.D. - Century has played in nine golf tournaments this fall. The Patriots have prevailed in eight of them. The next one is the big one, the state tournament.
Hannah Herbel leads Century with a scoring average of just over 74.
Her sister, Leah Herbel, has also been a medalist this season but it takes four solid efforts to make a title winning team and Century is the defending state champion.
"When we have Leah and Hannah they worked so hard this summer getting ready for the season, it kinds of shows the other girls to work hard as well," said Lindsay Reede, Century head coach.
"I've learned that keeping it in the fairway is pretty important so you have a good approach shot to the green, and also you need to make some putts in order to get your score pretty low," said Hannah, Century freshman.
"The two Herbel's and Riley Crouthers and Riley Ball and they've just been solid throughout the whole entire season," said Reede.
The state tournament is at the Bois de Sioux Golf Course. A course they don't know much about, so this Sunday will be important for the Patriots.
"We'll just start from tee to green so everything from the bunkers, to water, to trees figuring out where the hazard's are and working around those, taking notes and hopefully analyzing it as much as we can for Monday and Tuesday," said Reede.
The Bois de Sioux Golf Course is in Wahpeton.
