BISMARCK, N.D. - Only two North Dakotans are in the top-20 in the PRCA World Standings right now.
Mandan's Ty Breuer in the Bareback and Cameron Morman of Glen Ullin in Steer Wrestling.
Moreman competed at Mandan Rodeo Days on Wednesday night.
"The hardest part about rodeo is there are so many variables to try and control at the same time," said Morman. "You're dealing with animal's and in football you can scheme and stuff like that, you can do that in rodeo but it all depends on the animal. We see these steers quite a bit and like tonight I had a really good one and messed it up but that's part of rodeo. It doesn't always go your way," said Morman.
Morman was a standout football player for the New Salem-Glen Ullin Holsteins in High School and he won a national steer wrestling championship in college.
Cam is 16th in the world right now, so it's time to go to as many rodeo's as you can.
"We have to drive over to Hamel, Minnesota tomorrow. Then we're in Spooner, Wisconsin on the 6th. Isanti on the night of the 6. Then we fly to St.Paul, Oregon the 7. Fly back in and go to Hamel for our second one on the 8th and then we have a day or two off and then we co Casper on the 10th, Colorado Springs on the 11 and 12, Sheridan on the 13 and then the short round is the 14. At this point of you're in the top 30 or top 40 you go hard and there's a lot of money up for grabs yet," said Morman.
Morman says he like's the adrenaline rush he gets when he nods his head to go. The top15 at the end of the regular season qualify for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.
