Bismarck Bobcats welcome some international players

BISMARCK, N.D. - Every year we see new faces join the Bismarck Bobcats. Most of the time we see guys from around the surrounding states, but sometimes you get the occasional European to join the team.

Adam Stacho and Matej Murin are both from Slovakia, and while they didn’t travel over here together, having someone who understands where you come from, really makes a difference.

"Well, I think it's comparable to going to a different country and not knowing anybody. I mean for us, to have somebody at least a friendly face in the locker room that speaks your language I think is huge. And, I think that's why, you know we have three or four usually, I know it got bumped to four, usually used to be two, but I don't think it's maybe necessarily healthy for just one," said Bobcats Head Coach Layne Sedevie.

Moving to another country is not an easy thing to do. While Matej is in his second year with the Bobcats, Adam had a tough transition coming here alone, but you wouldn’t be able to notice when you see them on the ice.

"You know, Adam's obviously had a great start for us as a rookie, and Matej's probably one of our most consistent guys every night,” said Sedevie. “So, they're guys we've leaned on early in the year, and they're going to have to do the same moving forward."

You can hear from both Adam and Matej Wednesday as Kaleigh Emery puts them in the Sports Spotlight.
