9-Inning games for Bismarck Governors

BISMARCK, N.D. The Bismarck Governors opened the Legion season in Pierre, and that’s where they are again Monday. The big difference, is they played double-headers on the first trip, and Monday evening, the Govs have a single 9-inning game on the schedule.

Since the playoffs are 9-inning outings, the players prefer game-days like today, as Govs catcher Logan Morse said: "I definitely like to play nines better than sevens. Baseball isn't baseball without nine innings. It's, a whole different dimension of the ballgame because, I mean, it's two extra innings to score in more runs or let in more runs, obviously. I mean, it sounds minuscule, but at the end of the day, a lot can change in two innings, and without it, it's a whole different game."

The Governors are 4-6 overall and 2-3 in non-conference games. After Pierre, the Govs head to Omaha for the College World Series tournament. Bismarck plays a team from Lawton, OK on Wednesday.
