WATFORD CITY, N.D. - Watford City voters have said "YES" to the McKenzie County Public School District 1 Bond Referendum.
The results are still considered unofficial until all absentee votes are in, but Valerie Kummer with the Watford City Vote "Yes" for Your Future committee says out of 842 total counted votes, for Question #1, allowing the district to build a new elementary school, they had 676 yes votes, or 80.3 percent of the vote.
Kummer says for Question #2, increasing the building fund to meet future needs, they received 600 "yes" votes, or 71.3 percent of the votes. Only 60 percent was needed to pass the changes. Final approval will be made by the school board Jan. 14.
