Zebra Mussels found in Lake Ashtabula

The North Dakota Game and Fish Department says it has found zebra mussels in Lake Ashtabula, north of Valley City.

The mussels are invasive and biologists say there's no known way to completely get rid of them from a waterway.

The department is putting emergency rules into effect, meaning anglers can't take any water away from the lake and the Sheyenne River, including for transferring bait.

Game and Fish encourages boaters to always clean, dry and drain their watercraft before going from lake to lake.
