Zap Rural Fire Department 50th anniversary

ZAP, N.D. - This year is also the 50th anniversary of the Zap Rural Fire Department.

The new department was formed from two other organizations in the area. During the Zip to Zap a bonfire was held on the street to keep people warm, and the fire station was built next to where it happened.

"Myself and another fellow we just walked around town and just visited with people from all over the United States. It was kind of fun, but then it got cold," said Rodney Weigum, Fire Department Director.

The fire department hosted a fleischkuekle feed at this year's Zip to Zap to commemorate the two anniversaries.
