World-renowned performers, local talent collaborate for 'Hansel and Gretel' in Minot
Some world-renowned artists are taking the stage in Minot this weekend to tell a famous story through opera.
The Western Plains Opera is putting on Engelbert Humperdinck's rendition of “Hansel and Gretel.”
The opera is collaborating with the Rinat Mouzafarov dance troupe, the Minot Symphony Orchestra, and world-famous opera performers such as Kathryn Krasovec and David Cangelosi, and Minot State alums Joann Martinson Davis and Gabrielle Damschen Razafinjatovo.
Krasovec, a lyric mezzo-soprano playing the role of “Hansel,” spoke on the collaboration of the many different groups and performers coming together to bring the story to life.
“I think the wonderful thing that the directors in this particular company have done, is that they bring in the community, so Rinat and his dancers, who are phenomenal, also involving the students from the university, giving them opportunities, in some of the other roles to work with professional singers coming in,” she said.
If you want to attend, the performance runs Friday night through Sunday.
