Woman taken to hospital after drive thru accident

BISMARCK, N.D. - Bismarck police say they responded to a woman who was trapped in a drive thru on Tuesday.

Lt. Luke Gardiner says the 64-year-old Bismarck woman paid for her food at the McDonald’s drive thru on Main Ave. in Bismarck and dropped something outside of her car.

The woman opened the door to grab the item and her foot went off the brake and her neck got stuck between the door and the car pillar. The victim says she couldn’t breathe.

Sgt. Dustin Miller used his baton to wedge the door so the victim had an airway until the fire department arrived and was able to get her out.

She was taken to the hospital.

The car scratched the building. Police didn’t issue citations.
