Woman Accused of Stealing More Than $20,000 From Company Sentenced

BISMARCK, N.D. - An office assistant at Petroleum & Tank, L.L.C, a Bismarck company, accused of stealing thousands of dollars has been sentenced.

Court documents say 38-year-old Sonya Grinnell was an assistant at the company when she wrote herself eight checks between April 2016 and March of 2017. The checks totaled just over $22,000.

Grinnell admitted to writing the checks and forging someone’s signature. She told police she used the money to pay for rent and other living expenses.

Courts records show Grinnell plead guilty to deceptive writings.

A judge sentenced her to 60 days in jail with three years of probation.
