WILLISTON, N.D. - For the past 10 years, the average number of school shooting incidents has increased nationwide, according to the Center for Homeland Defense and Security, and teachers in North Dakota are taking notice.

In Williston, students will be back in school next week, and Friday, school staff members from the area are learning about school violence planning and school shooting management from the North Dakota Safety Council.

They reviewed case studies of past school shootings and lessons learned, discussed known traits and origins of school shooters, learned the early signs for problematic behavior, and developed emergency response plans.
