Williston Walmart gets a remodel

WILLISTON, N.D. - The Williston Walmart is getting some upgrades.

"Across the nation, we're the only store in North Dakota that will be remodeling other than Wahpeton, and so Wahpeton will get a remodel, as well," said Williston Walmart store Manager Josh Comer.

Comer says one of the changes is expanded product offerings in the health and beauty section, including a larger selection of ethnic products.

In the grocery section you will also find more ethnic foods, new produce and new deli counters.

Comer also says many customers will be pleased to find the craft section restored. Electronics will be stocked with new items, and Walmart will also be carrying industrial tools.

For those using the Walmart apps, payment and pickup are changing. The pickup desk will now be at the front of the store.

"It'll be much easier and convenient for customers to be able to come in to pick up their items that they purchased online, and so we really hope that these new offerings of new products will be really what the customers have bee asking for here in Williston," said Comer.

And, for those needing to get through checkout quickly, 28 new self-checkouts will be available, including eight belted checkouts for those bigger shopping trips.

"It's really important that we let our customers know that, to know that we're continuing to change things to make things quicker in the store so you can get in and get out and have a great shopping experience, as well," said Comer.

The remodel, being done by local subcontractors is expected to last 10 more weeks.

Comer says he knows the remodel may be inconvenient, but he hopes that in the end the remodel will be just what customers have been hoping for.

The grand opening is scheduled for March 30.
