WILLISTON, N.D. - The busiest DMV in the state, located in Williston, is being relocated.
Construction for the new office begins soon, and Williams County Commissioners say this will improve motor vehicle visits for people in the area.
The new DMV will be located at the County Administration building.
District 3 Commissioner, Cory Hanson, says construction will begin within the next couple of weeks. He says they'll save money in the long run, because they won't be renting, and it will provide a bigger space for residents; two reasons why the relocation was passed by a vote of 5 to 0 at last week's County Commissioners' meeting.
"You're going to be able to come in, go straight into the DMV area, do your business, and back out you go. So, I think it will streamline, it will make it a lot easier to get in and out, it will get some extra parking. It will get us all into one camp."
The county's lease with Williston State College ends in December, so commissioners say they plan to be in the new building by January of 2020.
