WILLISTON, N.D. - Earlier this week, the Williston Convention and Visitors Bureau honored six local residents and organizations for their role in growing the tourism industry.

Lewis and Clark State Park was awarded Attraction of the Year, as it has expanded camping facilities, added attractions like renting kayaks and paddleboards, and brought new events to town, like trail runs and fishing tournaments.

The Event of the Year Award went to Bakken Oil Product & Service Show. The 8th annual BOPSS will be in October, and draws hundreds of exhibitors and guests.

The Miss North Dakota Scholarship Organization won Tourism Organization of the Year, for not only promoting Williston, but also North Dakota women.

Airport Director Anthony Dudas was awarded Tourism Champion, for his efforts to make Williston a destination and create a smooth transition from operations at the old airport to the new.

Two hotel industry professionals were awarded for their work with visitors to Williston and tourism industry partners. Anna Morgan with the Holiday Inn Express received Tourism Employee of the Year, and Michelle Thrasher with Candlewood Suites was given Tourism Leader of the Year.
