Watford City man in custody for two crimes

WATFORD CITY, N.D. - A Watford City man remains in custody on a $25,000 bond after first being arrested on drug charges and then being charged in connection with a burglary.

Court documents show 20-year-old Paul Weston was arrested on June 4 after law enforcement executed a search warrant on his camper.

He faces three drug-related charges for that case, but law enforcement charged him in another case while he was still in custody.

Law enforcement officers say Weston was part of a burglary June 4 that was interrupted when a woman returned to the residence unexpectedly.

He and the other suspect were wearing bandannas over their faces and fled through the back door of the home with a rifle, computer and other items.

Weston is charged with burglary, theft and wearing masks during a criminal offense.

A judge set Weston's bond at $25,000, which the Clerk of Courts Office says has both cases attached.

Weston's preliminary hearing is set for July 11. He has requested a bond reduction.
