WBI Energy proposes 67-mile natural gas pipeline

WILLISTON, N.D. - A $220 million natural gas pipeline project that will span 67 miles from Tioga and connect with the Northern Border Pipeline south of Watford City is being proposed by WBI Energy.

This Northern Bakken Expansion Project will be able to transport 200 million cubic feet of gas per day, reducing the amount of natural gas that is burnt up in the area.

"One of the challenges that the producers in the Bakken have is infrastructure to move natural gas to market, so we are working with customers to provide solutions to help them move that natural gas to market, so we can reduce that natural gas flaring in the Bakken,” said Laura Lueder, the MDU manager of communications and public affairs.

If the project has environmental and federal regulatory approval, WBI Energy will begin the project in 2021.
