BISMARCK, ND - The Village Family Service Center strives to improve its patients’ lives through counseling. Recently, their space itself received a major improvement.
The larger building gives staff members the space they need to improve on and expand their counseling services.
July 1st marked the first day the new Village Family Service Center in Bismarck opened for business.
The new space came with an additional 1,000 square feet.
For the counselors at the center, that means more room for their clients to learn and play.
"The new space is a lot bigger and so I'm able to have a separate room just for toys and for kids to go in. That way there are no rules, they're able to go in and do whatever they feel like they need to do during the session," says counselor Allison Bitz.
The new building comes with two conference rooms and more office space for staff to meet patients.
With the expansion of their building, came the opportunity to expand the work they do.
The new space allows for more counseling and services for the community.
"What we get to provide is additional counseling services. We have room for play therapy, and we have a group called family centered engagement, it gives us a lot more room to provide those services for clients," office manager Sharon Wetzstein says.
Wetzstein says they'll be able to hire more staff now that the space can accommodate it, which will add to the growing number of services they can provide to families.
If you'd like to check out the new space, the Village Family Service Center is hosting an open house on August 8th from 4 to 6 p.m.
The new space is located at 2207 E. Main Ave.
