MINOT, N.D. - Minot Police have identified the victim in Sunday’s homicide as 29-year-old Dominick Stephens.
No one is in custody at this time, though police say they believe this was a targeted attack, and the public is not in danger.
Police investigated a report of gunshots near 11th Avenue and 13th Street NW just after 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Shortly thereafter they responded to a call of a report of a car crash near the Minot State University Dome.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Stephens, was found with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Trinity Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
At a press conference Monday, was another male passenger in the vehicle who was not harmed during the incident.
Police say they are not speculating as to the motive for the incident at this time, to protect the investigation.
"Our whole investigative office has been working solely on this case ever since the report came out. And we will continue to work on this case specifically until these leads and these tips either are exhausted or until we get someone into custody," said Capt. Justin Sundheim, Minot Police Department.
If anyone has information regarding the shooting, or home surveillance footage of the incidents, they should contact Minot Police at (701) 852-0111.
