Vandalism of oil well site in New Town

NEW TOWN, N.D. – The McKenzie County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating a pair of suspects tied to a vandalism and theft of an oil well site last month.

Deputies found between $10,000 and $15,000 worth of damage to the site Sept. 11. They believe the two men tried to steal copper cables from a well pad the morning before.

Investigators are using surveillance images to track down the suspects and their truck.

One suspect is a white man with a distinctive nose, wearing a dark-colored sweater, with a hardhat and a green bandanna over part of his face.

The second suspect is also a white man wearing a hard hat. He also appears to be wearing sweat pants with a logo on the left leg.

The vehicle in question is a blue extended cab 1st generation Chevy Silverado, with a Z71 on the rear quarter panel. The license plate is covered.
