A $28 million bond referendum failed by just 30 votes Tuesday in Williams County School District #8, according to the district's Business Manager.
Unofficial results show 458, or 56 percent of people voted yes on the $28 million bond. The district needed 60 percent approval for the bond to go into effect. It would’ve allowed the district to build a 600-student elementary school.
Chris Jundt leads the recall election with 434 votes, and Sarah Williams has 399. The two recalled board members, Curtis Sullivan and Penny Soiseth, have 310 and 309 votes. Salena Gustaveson received 109 votes.
A record-breaking 818 total ballots were cast, 253 more than the last bond vote. Vote results will be unofficial until the board approves them next week.
