Wednesday night the University of Mary notified its students to avoid the west side of campus due to an unconfirmed mountain lion sighting.

After investigating the report, the Game and Fish Department did not find evidence of a mountain lion.

"The first thing that we do as our response, if it's in our jurisdiction, is try to confirm whether or not there is actually a mountain lion there. Domestic dogs and domestic cats are the number one and two things mistaken for mountain lions," said Stephanie Tucker, Furbearer Biologist for North Dakota Game and Fish.

Last week, Game and Fish did confirm a mountain lion sighting northwest of Bismarck.
