BISMARCK, N.D. - The United Tribes Technical College honored the service and sacrifice of Native American veterans with a banquet Friday.
They lined up the veterans in attendance and the community went down the line to share their feelings with the soldiers. They also highlighted the importance of native veterans to the country.
"When I have opportunities to speak to our Native American communities, cause as you're probably aware the serve at a much higher rate than any other ethnic group, I always want to take advantage of that opportunity. Anytime I can speak to young people about what our veterans have done for us and the importance of their service I want to take that opportunity," said Maj. Gen. Alan Dohrman, Adjutant General.
According to the U.S. Census, 18 million veterans lived in the United States in 2018.
