MINOT, N.D. - Two new blocks are open to car traffic downtown. One block of Main Street and one block of First Avenue Southeast are now open. These two blocks are the first full sections open to traffic during this construction season, Phase II of the Downtown Infrastructure Improvements Project.
Keller Paving and Landscaping has a tight schedule in anticipation of finishing more roads and sidewalks on and around Main Street prior to a street dance and the free Festival on Main next weekend.
Construction work is also reaching a critical point to get as many roads and sidewalks open around the Central Campus High School prior to school starting on Aug. 24. But for the city, this investment is well worth the time and money.
“From our stand point from the city, we're injecting a lot of capitol into downtown because we believe there's a lot of good that happens down here, and we want to support that. With this infrastructure that we have in place now it will last for many many decades,” City Engineer Lance Meyer said.
