BISMARCK, N.D. - Tuesday, two Minot groups came together to give back to families in need this Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what you're thankful for.

This year, the Magic City Lions and Minot Young Professionals say they are thankful to live in a community that gives back.

"There's a lot of families out there that when you think of Thanksgiving meals, you never really realize that there are families out there that can't afford to have their own thanksgiving meal. So, by us doing this small act we really are changing people's holidays," said Minot Young Professionals Treasurer Preston Phillips.

That's why the Lions and Young Professionals teames up with Case Wise Foods to arrange Thanksgiving baskets for families in need.
"We have projects in the year where we raise money and we use that money to give back to the community and this money is coming from that fund" said Lions President Gary Thuner.

The baskets are going to 14 Minot families in need of a little extra help this year.

"Its a great feeling for us. Plus delivering the baskets make the families feel good and it really makes us feel good when we can do something like that." said Thuner.

This is the Lions' tenth year of arranging the baskets and their third collaboration with the Young Professionals.

Thuner says the partnership has allowed them to help more and more families.

"I see this continuing for years and years to come." said Phillips.

Making sure everyone can enjoy a meal this Thanksgiving.

Cash Wise supplied both boxes and oranges free of charge to the cause.
