MANDAN, N.D.- A code red was sent out Monday afternoon after two Youth Correction Center inmates escaped.
The public information officer for the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation, Michelle Linster, says the two juveniles left the facility and were captured by local authorities shortly after.
A message was sent out after 3:30 p.m. Monday confirming the code red was lifted and the two escaped inmates were captured.
The Morton County Sheriff's Office PIO, Maxine Herr says they found the two suspects west of Mandan on a prairie trail. She says the two inmates led 10 officers on a chase on a stolen four-wheeler.
Morton County Sheriff's Office says they are still investigating where the four-wheeler was stolen from.
Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier and deputies all responded to the scene.
Charges are pending.
