Trial rescheduled for August in Rolette County murder case

ROLLA, N.D. - The trial for a man charged in a Rolette County murder has been pushed back to August.

According to the online court docket, 50-year-old Ronald Wootan will now stand trial in Rolette County beginning Aug. 11.

He faces a murder charge in the 2018 shooting death of James "Joe" Pochant".

He's also accused of firing rounds at a SWAT truck.

He was supposed to stand trial starting last week, but the courts granted an 11th-hour continuance.

Wootan faces the chance of life in prison if convicted.
